Late Morning departure Rainbow Mountain Tour

Unlike everyone, we will pick you up at your hotel around 8:15 a.m. to start this incredible Rainbow Mountain tour in the afternoon.

We calmly drive around 2 hours towards the restaurant where we will stop for toilets, then, we will continue our journey to the trailhead, where the starting point of the hike is.
Beginning at 4.800 m.a.s.l, heading to the top -by horse or walking- one can see a truly impressive view of a glacier.

At the very top, you will find yourself at 5.030 m.a.s.l, and a 360º colorful view of the andes that you will never, ever, forget we will have around 30 – 40 minutes in the top.

While you enjoy the amazing views, our guide will offer you a nice hot coca tea, the advantage of doing the Rainbow Mountain Tour with us it is that you will be almost  the only ones at the top, no one else will be there since big groups goes very early, and for the time that we arrive everyone is gone.

When we are back on the bus, we will go to a nice restaurant with vegetarian options in Cusipata, and after that we go back to Cusco city and drop you off at your hotel.

• Professional Guide. We have the best selection of guides, grown up in this region with a deep love and passion for teaching their culture. In addition, they are trained in first aid and carry an oxygen tank if necessary because of the high altitude on the rainbow mountain tour.

• Lunch. We will have lunch after our hike to the mountain, it will be by 15:00 pm in the way back to cusco, therefore,  we recommend to have good breakfast in the hotel
•  Snacks and energy bars. We will provide you with a snack consisting of energy bars, fruits, etc.
•  Hotel Pick up & Drop Off. Our service includes picking up from your hotel to start the tour, pick up time will be confirmed according to the location of your hotel. At the end of the tour we will also leave you back at your hotel.
• Walking sticks. – If you want to use walking sticks, please let us know so we will cordinate it.
• Permanent Assistance. We want all the activities you do in our destination to be unique, unforgettable and safe, so you will always have an assigned personal assistant who will be in constant communication with you in case you need something.

• Entrance tickets. The cost its S/. 30.00 soles per person
• Tips – The tips for your crew are voluntary and according to your satisfaction level.
• Horses. – If you want to save energy for the last portion of the hike and enjoy your time at the view point we recomend to rent a horse, the cost its S/. 70 soles per person to go up and to be paid directly with soles and in cash.

What to bring the rainbow mountain tour day.

Please take note of these recommendations to do the Rainbow Mountain Tour.

• PASSPORT OR IDENTITY DOCUMENT (VERY IMPORTANT)
• Hat or cap for the sun: Very important for the walk, radiation is stronger on the rainbow mountain tour.
• Sunglasses: Highly recommended.
• Sunscreen: The radiation in the mountains is stronger, use sunscreen every day.
• Waterproof jacket or windbreaker (if it is light much better)
• Gloves: Especially for when you are on the the Rainbow Mountain Viewpoint, because there it is very windy and cold.
• Bottle of water or CAMELBAK.  double the regular dose of water you drink normally.
• Shoe with a good grip: If you have trekking shoe is much better
• Personal medication pills: Do not forget to take your personal medication, most importantly the ones you take daily.
• Others you consider necessary. However, remember that this is an ADVENTURE walk!
• Above all, a lot of desire to have fun, enjoy nature and learn about the local culture.

Altitude sickness

As soon as the people reserve the trip to Peru, specifically to Cusco, they begin to wonder about altitude sickness. High altitudes contains less oxygen than at sea level and forces your body to work harder to get the oxygen it needs.

In our rainbow mountain tour in the afternoon we will always have oxygen tank and first aid kit, our guides all well trained to assist you in case you have any altitude sympthom.

Weather

The weather in he Rainbow Mountain is unpredictable. Dry season in Cusco is from April through October, but this does not prevent the rain from falling in June or the sun coming out in December, just be prepared for any weather.

Make sure you have adequate clothing that includes a waterproof jacket, pants, poncho and waterproof gloves.

Also be prepared for a very cold day in the rainbow mountain tour, once in the top, it will be cold and windy.

Arriving to Cusco

The best way to get to Cusco is by air and there are several airline options. LATAM tends to be the most expensive, but it has more flight options. But you also have PERUVIAN, AVIANCA, STAR PERU, LC PERU to choose according to your preference.

Expect flight delays or cancellations, due to the high altitude of Cusco, tends to be difficult to land so that on rainy days you can paralyze air traffic.

Travel insurance
